Five Foreign Advisers Appointed by China Standardization Expert Committee

Five senior executives from national standardization institutions of Canada, France, Germany, UK, the U.S. were appointed as the advisers of China Standardization Expert Committee by AQSIQ and SAC at the ceremony held at CNCC during the 39th ISO General Assembly in Beijing on September 12, 2016.

AQSIQ Minister Zhi Shuping attended the ceremony and gave the letter of appointment to the five foreign advisers, including John Walter, CEO of SCC, Olivier Peyrat, Director-General of AFNOR Group, Torsten Bahke, the previous Chairman of Executive Board of DIN, Scott Steedman, Director of Standards of BSI, and S. Joe Bhatia, President and CEO of ANSI. SAC Administrator Tian Shihong presided over the meeting.

China Standardization Expert Committee is the top think-tank of national standardization sector, which can provide good practice and suggestions for the decision-making and strategy deployment of national standardization work to meet the increasing needs of standards in the market and society, Tian said.

The five foreign specialists, serving as the advisers of the committee are expected to promote the capability of China in participating international activities, strengthen the communication and cooperation in standardization sector at the national level and provide guidance and support to expand the international vision of the committee, Tian added.

They are very honored to be appointed as the advisers of the committee and willing to contribute to China’s participation in international activities, jointly promoting the healthy development of international standardization, according to the foreign experts.
