Periodical History

China Standardization (Overseas Edition), created in January 2004, is a bimonthly worldwide English journal approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MOST) on May 28, 2003.

It is administrated by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ), hosted and published by the China Association for Standardization (CAS). Ma Lincong is the Editor in Chief. The journal is the first and the very exclusive English magazine on standardization in China,exchanging to international, regional and all foreign organizations and institutions for standardization.


On September 21, 2001, the AQSIQ approved establishment of China Standardization Press hosted by CAS via Letter of AQSIQ〔2001〕No.406.

From March 2004, China Standardization(Overseas Edition) was started to publish by China Standardization Press.

From September 2005,China Standardization(Overseas Edition) revised its version,the number of unfixed columns in each issue has added from two to eight. The new columns are include:New standards, Special report and Introduction to the Enterprises.

From January 2009,China Standardization(Overseas Edition) conducted its revision,the columns setting tended to be more stable, and the standing columns mainly include:Special report,Feature/Features and New on the Shelf.

Since July 2007,the fixed columns of China Standardization (Overseas Edition) are:Special report, Theme topic (decided by a certain topic in each issue),Feature/Features,China scene.

In June 2010,Yin Lin became the Editor in Chief of China Standardization (Overseas Edition).

From August 2010,China Standardization(Overseas Edition) was administrated by AQSIQ,jointly hosted by CAS and CNIS,Liu Zhiyang became the Editor in Chief.

On December 1, 2010, China Standardization Press was reconstructed and implemented the enterprise management. The newly-established China Standardization Press is administrated by AQSIQ,jointly hosted by CAS and CNIS.

In January 2011,China Standardization (Overseas Edition) conducts a comprehensive revision,one theme for each issue, aiming to report China standardization work comprehensively in one industry or one enterprise, focusing on hot issues in standardization, introducing Chinese experts with their viewpoints on standardization and Chinese enterprises with their experiences in standardization , exploring the forefront technical issues, expressing the cultural features on standardization in China, the number of standing columns increase from three (Theme Topic, Features and China News) to ten,(China Scene, Exclusive Interview, Spotlight, Enterprise Standardization, Special Report, Observation & Thought, Features, China Culture and Standardization, Research & Exploration and Standards Dissection),Liu Zhiyang is the Editor in Chief.
